About Me

My name is Neil, and I am a motor trader by profession. I have over 15 years experience, ranging from working for manufacturers and main dealers, to running my own operation. As well as buying from main dealers and smaller independents, I also spend a lot of time at auctions. Over the last few years, I have noticed the ever-increasing number of retail buyers there, and as well as seeing some buy some very cheap cars, I have also witnessed many at the side of the road with their hazard lights on on the way home.
I am sure people will say I have a vested interest in reducing the number of retail buyers at auction, and to a point, I have, but the motor industry is just like any other market, essentially based on supply and demand. So if auction prices are being pushed higher by more bidders, I concentrate elsewhere. Things always seem to find a balance. And besides, I'm not deluded enough to believe my little Blog will influence THAT many people!
My aim in writing this Blog, is to give a balanced, real view of the auction process, written not by a journalist, or someone with an interest in it, but by a genuine trader with real-life experience, both good and bad!
I hope you enjoy my posts, and that I can help a few people along the way.
Neil
